Fenton Lake was stocked on June 6th with 2233 Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout from the Seven Springs Hatchery. Included in this number was approximately 233 brood fish in the 16-18 inch range. This weekend should be a great time to be on the lake.
Today Jemezcentral.com stocked the test page with a post. The post was designed to test the new pages for jemezcentral.com.
San Gregorio Lake, located within the San Pedro Parks wilderness, was stocked on Wednesday June 15th for the first time in two years. Approximately 8000 catchable sized Rainbows were stocked today. This afternoon a small fire broke out at mile marker 30 on Hwy 126 near Fenton Lake. Because this fire started in a previous burn area (Lakes Fire 2002), there was very little fuel to feed the fire. Stage two fire restrictions will go into place on Friday June 10th. This means that no campfires or charcoal will be allowed, even within Forest Service campgrounds. More details on Friday.
Jemez Falls Campground was closed on Monday May30th due to a small fire that was controlled quickly. The campground remains closed as of Tuesday June 7th. Plans are to reopen by this weekend, but I can’t say for sure.
Saturday, June 4th is free fishing day throughout New Mexico. No license is required for anyone. Resident, non-resident, old, young, male, female. Cool. Come on up and take advantage.
